GILMOUR ELECTRICAL

Terms & Conditions of Business

Thank you for choosing Gilmour Electrical. These Terms & Conditions set out the basis upon which we provide our electrical services. By accepting our quotation or instructing us to commence work, you agree to these terms.

1. Quotations

All quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated.

Quotations are based on the information available at the time of inspection or supplied by the customer.

Any work requested outside the original quotation will be treated as additional work and may incur extra charges. Any additional costs will be discussed and agreed before the work is carried out.

2. Scope of Work

Gilmour Electrical will carry out all work with reasonable care, skill and professionalism in accordance with current UK electrical regulations and applicable Scottish legislation.

Where unforeseen issues are discovered during the course of the work, we will explain the findings and provide a revised quotation before proceeding wherever reasonably possible.

3. Appointments & Access

Customers are responsible for ensuring:

Safe and unobstructed access to the property.

Suitable parking where available.

Access to electricity where reasonably required.

Pets and children are kept away from the work area.

If we are unable to gain access at the agreed appointment time, a call-out charge may apply.

4. Materials

Materials supplied remain the property of Gilmour Electrical until payment has been received in full.

Where materials become unavailable or significantly increase in cost before work begins, we reserve the right to amend the quotation after discussing this with the customer.

5. Payment Terms

Unless otherwise agreed in writing:

Payment is due upon completion of the work.

Larger projects may require a deposit and staged payments.

Payment can be made by bank transfer, debit/credit card or cash (where agreed).

Invoices not paid by the due date may be subject to interest and reasonable recovery costs where permitted by law.

6. Customer-Supplied Equipment

Where customers request installation of materials or equipment they have purchased themselves:

We cannot guarantee the quality, suitability or compatibility of customer-supplied products.

Any additional labour required due to defective or incorrect items will be chargeable.

7. Variations

If additional work becomes necessary due to hidden defects, damaged wiring, unsafe installations or other unforeseen circumstances, we will obtain approval before carrying out the extra work wherever practicable.

8. Cancellations

Appointments cancelled with at least 48 hours' notice will not incur a cancellation charge.

Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice may incur a reasonable cancellation fee to cover lost time and costs.

Special-order materials may be non-refundable.

9. Warranty

12-month workmanship warranty on all installation work carried out.

Manufacturer warranties apply separately to all products supplied.

This warranty does not cover:

Normal wear and tear.

10. Certification

Where applicable, Electrical Installation Certificates (EIC), Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificates (MEIWC) or Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR) will be provided following completion of the work and receipt of full payment.

11. Liability

Gilmour Electrical maintains appropriate Public Liability Insurance.

Our liability for any claim relating to the services provided shall not exceed the total value of the work carried out, except where liability cannot legally be excluded or limited.

Nothing within these Terms limits liability for:

Death or personal injury caused by negligence.
